Shukla Dwitiya is the 2nd lunar day (Tithi) of Shukla Paksha, the bright half of the lunar month. Its epithet is Mangala Prada, "augurs auspiciousness", and its tutelary lord (Adhidevta) is Brahma (God of creation - a Hindu Triad).
Counted paksha by paksha, Shukla Dwitiya is ruled by Kuber. It belongs to the Nandaadi group of Bhadra Tithis, ruled by Mercury, and in Shukla Paksha it is called Ugra Karma. By eye status Shukla Dwitiya is a blind Tithi.
Shukla Dwitiya becomes a Dagdha Tithi when the Sun is in Sagittarius or Capricorn. It is Maas Shunya in Ashvin and Kartika.
