Krishna Tritiya is the 3rd lunar day (Tithi) of Krishna Paksha, the dark half of the lunar month. Its epithet is Bala Prada, "bestows power", and its tutelary lord (Adhidevta) is Gauri (wife of Lord Shiva).
Counted paksha by paksha, Krishna Tritiya is ruled by Yama. It belongs to the Nandaadi group of Jaya Tithis, ruled by Mars, and in Krishna Paksha it is called Lakshmivati. By eye status Krishna Tritiya is a two-eyed Tithi.
It is Maas Shunya in Ashvin.
