Shukla Dwadashi is the 12th lunar day (Tithi) of Shukla Paksha, the bright half of the lunar month. Its epithet is Yasha Prada, "fame giver", and its tutelary lord (Adhidevta) is Vishnu (lord of preservation - a Hindu Triad).
Counted paksha by paksha, Shukla Dwadashi is ruled by Vishnu. It belongs to the Nandaadi group of Bhadra Tithis, ruled by Mercury, and in Shukla Paksha it is called Ugra Karma. By eye status Shukla Dwadashi is a two-eyed Tithi.
It is Maas Shunya in Vaishakha.
The 12th Tithi, ruled by Lord Vishnu, is described as supreme amongst all Tithis; it is said that "no day is better than Dwadashi Tithi".
