Vijayadashami
About Vijayadashami
Vijayadashami is the same as Dussehra, celebrated on the tenth day of Navratri. It marks the victory of Lord Rama over Ravana and Goddess Duras over Mahishasura.
In Gujarat, grand processions are taken out, cultural programmes are organised, and Navratri idols are immersed. The Ramlila culminates in burning Ravanas effigy.
Vijayadashami is highly auspicious for new beginnings. Ayudha Puja is performed and students seek blessings from their teachers.
The festival symbolises the victory of dharma over adharma and inspires people to overcome evil tendencies within themselves.
