About Siddha Yoga (Vaara-Tithi)

What is Siddha Yoga (Vaara-Tithi)?

Siddha Yoga (Vaara-Tithi) is an auspicious combination yoga that shares its name and general meaning — “accomplished” or “successful” — with the more commonly referenced Siddha Yoga, but the two are calculated quite differently. This variant belongs to the simpler, two-element Vaara-Tithi family of combination yogas, formed purely from the weekday and the lunar day, without any Nakshatra condition at all.

Astronomical Formation & the Distinction from Plain Siddha Yoga

This yoga forms whenever the current Tithi is on the qualifying list assigned to that day's weekday in a fixed reference table — for example, Mangalavara (Tuesday) qualifies on the 3rd, 8th, or 13th Tithi; Budhavara (Wednesday) on the 2nd, 7th, or 12th; Guruvara (Thursday) on the 5th, 10th, 15th, or 30th; Shukravara (Friday) on the 1st, 6th, or 11th; and Shanivara (Saturday) on the 4th, 9th, or 14th. Notably, Ravivara (Sunday) and Somavara (Monday) have no qualifying Tithi in this table at all, so this particular Siddha Yoga (Vaara-Tithi) variant cannot occur on those two weekdays. This is the key structural difference from the main Siddha Yoga page: that version additionally requires a matching Moon Nakshatra alongside the Tithi and weekday, while this Vaara-Tithi version depends only on Tithi and weekday, occurring on every qualifying date regardless of which Nakshatra the Moon is transiting.

What Siddha Yoga (Vaara-Tithi) is Good For

Being an auspicious yoga, it is traditionally regarded as favourable for:

  • New Beginnings: Starting ventures, signing agreements, or launching a project.
  • Religious & Spiritual Acts: Puja, havan, and other worship or initiation ceremonies.
  • Education: Beginning studies or enrolling in new learning.
  • General Auspicious Activities: Tasks where a favourable, successful start is desired.

Important Considerations

Do not confuse this Vaara-Tithi Siddha Yoga with the separate Tithi-Nakshatra-Vaara Siddha Yoga tracked on this site's Siddha Yoga page — they are calculated from different rules and will not always fall on the same dates. Since this variant has no qualifying Tithi on Sunday or Monday, it will never appear on those weekdays. Always confirm the exact timing against local sunrise and cross-check for any conflicting inauspicious yoga before finalising an important plan.
