Kundali Yoga — Check Your Birth Chart Yogas

Gaj Kesari, Raj Yoga, Dhan Yoga, Panch Mahapurusha and more — which of 300+ classical yogas are present in your chart, each with its formation rule and result.

"योगः कर्मसु कौशलम्" — Yoga is excellence in action (Bhagavad Gita 2.50)

Yogas are the planetary combinations in your chart that shape life's trajectory — Raj Yoga for position, Dhan Yoga for wealth, Marriage yogas for partnership. But being present is not the same as being powerful: dignity, dasha timing and aspects decide whether a yoga stays on paper or changes your life.

Your Chart's Yoga Profile

—

Present — But Is It Powerful?

Three things separate a paper yoga from a life-changing one.

🏛️

Dignity

Is the forming planet strong?

A yoga whose key planet is exalted or in its own sign delivers fully. The same yoga with a debilitated or combust planet is a paper yoga — technically present, functionally silent.

⏳

Dasha Timing

When does the relevant Mahadasha arrive?

A yoga delivers during the Mahadasha or Antardasha of the planets forming it. A flawless Raj Yoga whose dasha arrives at 85 has limited practical impact on the life actually lived.

🔭

Aspects

What modifies it?

Benefic aspects from Jupiter or Venus strengthen a yoga; malefic aspects from Saturn, Mars or Rahu weaken or distort it. Combustion by the Sun significantly diminishes a yoga's potential.

Takeaway: It is not how many yogas you have — it is how strong each one is. One powerful yoga with the right dasha timing outweighs ten weak ones.

Yoga vs Dosha — Same Planet, Different Lens

The same planetary placement can be both a yoga and a dosha. That is not a contradiction — they are two different questions.

Ruchaka YogavsManglik Dosha

The same Mars in a kendra — one lens sees exceptional courage and drive (Ruchaka), the other sees friction in marriage (Manglik). Same planet, same house, opposite reading.

Gaj Kesari YogavsKemdrum Dosha

Jupiter in a kendra from the Moon forms Gaj Kesari. An empty 2nd and 12th from the Moon forms Kemadruma. The same Jupiter placement that creates the yoga can also cancel the dosha entirely.

Neecha Bhanga Raj YogavsDebilitation

A debilitated planet is the starting point for both readings. Without a cancelling condition it stays weak; with one it becomes among the most powerful Raj Yogas. Same planet, opposite outcome.

Kundali Yoga FAQs

How many yogas can one kundali have?

Far more than most people expect. Our engine checks over 300 classical yogas, and a typical chart carries several dozen. The number matters much less than the strength — one strong yoga with good dasha timing outweighs many weak ones.

Is Gaj Kesari Yoga really rare?

No — roughly a quarter of charts have it. It is one of the most common yogas. The reason most people do not feel it strongly is the three pillars: dignity, dasha timing and aspects decide whether it delivers or stays on paper.

What is the strongest yoga in a kundali?

There is no single answer. The Panch Mahapurusha yogas are considered particularly powerful, and Dharma-Karmadhipati (9th lord with 10th lord) is generally ranked the supreme Raj Yoga. But strength depends on the forming planet's dignity and dasha timing, not the yoga's name.

Can yogas and doshas exist in the same chart?

Yes — they always do. The same Mars that creates Manglik Dosha creates Ruchaka Yoga when it is dignified in a kendra. Yogas and doshas are different lenses on the same placements, so both are worth checking.

What does a 'weak' or 'paper' yoga mean?

It is technically present — the formation conditions are met — but the forming planet is debilitated, combust, or under malefic aspect. It exists in the chart yet rarely delivers the effects classical texts describe.

When does a yoga actually give results?

Primarily during the Mahadasha or Antardasha of the planets that form it. A Gaj Kesari Yoga activates in a Jupiter or Moon Dasha. Outside those windows the yoga sits in the chart without expressing much.

What if I have no Raj Yoga?

It does not mean the chart lacks strength. Dhan Yogas, Mahapurusha yogas and many other combinations carry their own distinct advantages. Every chart has its own profile — check the full list above to see what yours actually holds.

Note: This page draws from classical Jyotish texts (Brihat Parasara Hora Shastra, Phaladeepika, Saravali). Yogas are potential energy patterns, not guarantees — they activate through dignity and dasha timing. For personalised guidance, consult a qualified Jyotish practitioner.
