What is Vipareetha Raj Yoga?

The 6th, 8th and 12th are the dusthanas — houses of conflict, upheaval and loss. Vipareetha Raj Yoga forms when their lords occupy dusthanas themselves, so that the difficulty effectively cancels itself. Classical texts describe the result as tremendous success arriving after an initial struggle: "vipareeta" means reversed, and the reversal is the point. Its three named forms are Harsha (6th lord), Sarala (8th) and Vimala (12th).
