About Siddha Yoga
What is Siddha Yoga?
Siddha Yoga (सिद्ध योग) is an auspicious Panchang combination whose very name — “Siddha”, meaning “accomplished” or “perfected” — signals its promise: work begun under this yoga is believed to reach successful completion. It belongs to the family of three-way Tithi-Nakshatra-Vaara (weekday) combinations, the same structural family as Sarvartha Siddhi and Amrit Siddhi Yoga, and is treated in classical Muhurat texts as a reliable window for launching new undertakings.
Astronomical Formation
Siddha Yoga forms only when a qualifying Tithi and a qualifying Nakshatra fall together on a specific weekday — each of the seven weekdays has its own distinct set of qualifying Tithis and Nakshatras drawn from classical reference tables. For example, on Ravivara (Sunday) the combination requires the Moon to occupy one of a defined set of Nakshatras such as Pushya, Hasta, or Shravana together with a matching Tithi; the exact qualifying pair changes for Monday, Tuesday, and every other day of the week. Because it depends on three independently moving Panchang elements — Tithi, Nakshatra, and Vaara — Siddha Yoga windows appear irregularly through the year rather than on a fixed cycle, and each window is displayed split at local sunrise, matching how the Vaara itself changes.
What Siddha Yoga is Good For
Being an auspicious yoga, Siddha Yoga is traditionally favoured for activities where a dependable, successful outcome is desired:
- New Beginnings: Starting a new venture, signing important agreements, or launching a project.
- Education & Learning: Beginning studies, enrolling in a course, or commencing Vidyarambha (a child's first learning).
- Religious & Spiritual Acts: Performing havan, puja, mantra initiation (Diksha), or other sacred rites.
- Travel & Journeys: Setting out on a journey intended to conclude successfully.
Important Considerations
Siddha Yoga (Tithi-Nakshatra-Vaara) is a distinct combination from the separate “Siddha Yoga (Vaara-Tithi)” page on this site — that variant depends only on the weekday and Tithi and does not require a matching Nakshatra. Always cross-check the exact window against local sunrise timings and any conflicting inauspicious yoga or Rahu Kalam active on the same day before finalising an important muhurat.
