About Akshaya Tritiya
Akshaya Tritiya falls on the third day of the bright fortnight in Vaishakha (April-May). It is considered one of the most auspicious days in the Hindu calendar.
'Akshaya' means inexhaustible — anything begun or acquired on this day is believed to grow and prosper. It is an ideal day for starting new ventures and purchasing gold.
In Maharashtra, people buy gold, start new businesses, and perform religious ceremonies. Temples hold special pujas and distribute prasad.
