About Hartalika Teej
Hartalika Teej is celebrated on the third day of the bright fortnight in Bhadrapada (August-September). It commemorates Goddess Parvati's reunion with Lord Shiva after her strict penance.
Married women observe a nirjala fast (without water) and pray for their husbands' longevity and prosperity. Unmarried women pray for a good spouse.
The festival involves singing, dancing, and the application of red sindoor, symbolising the married woman's devotion. Women gather to swing on decorated swings.
