About Shattila Ekadashi
Shattila Ekadashi falls on the eleventh day of the dark fortnight in Magha (January-February). The name comes from the tradition of using sesame seeds (til) in six different ways during worship.
Devotees observe fasting and perform pujas using sesame seeds — in the bath, offerings, food, donations, fire rituals, and prayers.
The vrat is believed to cleanse sins and grant spiritual merit. In Andhra Pradesh, temples hold special pujas and devotees gather for communal celebrations.
