About Govardhan Puja

Govardhan Puja is celebrated the day immediately after Diwali.

It commemorates the day Lord Krishna defeated Lord Indra's arrogance by lifting the massive Govardhan Hill on his little finger to protect the villagers of Vrindavan from apocalyptic storms.

Vrat Vidhi & Fasting Rules

Devotees build a model of Govardhan Hill from cow dung and offer a mountain of food (Annakut).

Step-by-Step Fasting Procedures:

Create a symbolic representation of the Govardhan Parvat in the courtyard using fresh cow dung.
Prepare 'Annakut' (a literal mountain of food), featuring 56 or 108 different vegetarian dishes, offered to Lord Krishna.
