About Sita Navami
Sita Navami, also known as Janaki Navami, celebrates the birth of Goddess Sita, the divine consort of Lord Rama and the ideal of feminine virtue, purity, and steadfast devotion. It falls on the Navami (ninth day) of the Shukla Paksha in the lunar month of Vaishakha, usually in April or May.
Sita is believed to have been discovered by King Janaka while he was ploughing a field in Mithila. He raised her as his own daughter, and she later became known as Janaki, Vaidehi, and Maithili. Her life exemplifies unwavering devotion to her husband, compassion for all beings, and courage in adversity.
On this day, devotees worship Sita along with Rama and Lakshmana, fast, recite the Ramayana, and pray for a happy, virtuous family life. It is considered especially auspicious for married women seeking conjugal bliss and prosperity.

The fast is observed for marital happiness, family welfare, and the blessings of Sita-Rama.

Vrat Katha: The Discovery of Sita
King Janaka of Mithila was ploughing a field to prepare for a great sacrifice when his plough struck a large golden casket. Inside lay a beautiful baby girl, radiant like the goddess Lakshmi herself.
Overjoyed, Janaka and his queen Sunayana adopted the child and named her Sita, because she was found in the furrow (sita). She grew up to be a woman of unparalleled virtue and beauty, destined to become the consort of Lord Rama and an eternal symbol of devotion and purity.
