Planets eclipsed by close conjunction with the lunar nodes

Any planet + Rahu / KetuDepends entirely on orbNot cancelled — but orb determines intensity

—

What is Grahan Dosha?

Grahan Dosha is the natal echo of an eclipse: when a classical planet sits close to Rahu or Ketu, its significations are described as eclipsed — not destroyed, but filtered, delayed, or expressed in an unconventional way. Unlike most doshas this one is a spectrum rather than a switch, because the orb between the planet and the node decides almost everything.

How this page detects it

Every one of the seven classical planets is measured against both Rahu and Ketu. Anything within 12° counts as eclipsed; the tightest orb sets the severity — within 3° is strong, within 7° moderate, otherwise mild.

Remedies

🕉️

Mantra

Chant the mantra of the eclipsed planet specifically — strengthening that graha matters more than addressing the node.

🙏

Donation (Daan)

Donate items associated with the eclipsed planet on its weekday. Avoid beginning major ventures during eclipse periods.

🧘

Behavioural

Expect the eclipsed planet's areas to work on a delay. Building slack into timelines around those themes is the practical form of this remedy.

When does this dosha activate?

A dosha in the chart is not active all the time — it intensifies during specific Dasha windows.

Grahan Dosha Calculator — FAQ

Does Grahan Dosha mean the planet stops working?

No. The classical description is that its significations become hidden or unconventional, not absent. Many charts with a tightly eclipsed planet show that planet's themes expressed in an unusual field rather than missing.

Why does the orb matter so much here?

Because an eclipse is a matter of degree in the literal sense — a planet 2° from Rahu is far more affected than one 11° away, even though both technically share the conjunction. That is why this page reports the exact orb rather than a yes/no.
