Hora Chart (D-2) Calculator

Wealth, resources and financial prosperity

The Hora chart is the second divisional chart in Brihat Parashara Hora Shastra, used specifically to judge a person's capacity to earn and hold wealth. It splits every sign into two halves — one ruled by the Sun (a fiery, active Hora) and one by the Moon (a watery, receptive Hora) — regardless of the sign's own element.

Division Rule

Each rashi is split into 2 halves of 15° each, assigned to the Sun's or Moon's Hora.

How to Read It

A majority of planets falling in the Sun's Hora points to wealth built through active effort and status; a majority in the Moon's Hora points to wealth through liquidity, trade or inherited comfort. Benefics in the 2nd or 11th house of D-2 strengthen sustained financial growth.

Hora Chart (D-2) Calculator — FAQ

What is the difference between Sun Hora and Moon Hora?

Sun Hora relates to active, self-earned wealth, status and government-linked income. Moon Hora relates to wealth through liquidity, trade, family and emotional security. Most classical texts read a chart dominated by Sun Hora as favouring a career-driven income, and one dominated by Moon Hora as favouring business or inherited wealth.

Should Hora be read alongside the 2nd and 11th houses of the birth chart?

Yes. The Hora chart is a refinement, not a replacement — it is read together with the 2nd house (accumulated wealth) and 11th house (income/gains) of the D-1 birth chart to judge how promised wealth actually materialises.

Does Hora apply to both Kalidas and Parashari methods?

There are two classical Hora schemes — Parashari (division by sign) and Kalidas's (an alternate assignment). This calculator uses the Parashari method, the one most commonly followed in modern Vedic astrology.
